ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The Bering Sea snow crab season is set to open on set to open Oct. 15 for the first time in two years.

After the Alaska Department of Fish and Game canceled back-to-back seasons in 2022-23 and 2023-24, the department noted on Friday that the crabs' biomass is above the threshold required for the fishery to open.
