National Fisherman has long been the only publication dedicated to covering the entire U.S. commercial fishing industry. The brand traces its roots back to Maine Coast Fishermen, first published in 1946, which merged in 1960 with a New Hampshire-based publication under the name National Fisherman. In 1966, the magazine also absorbed Alaska Fisherman’s Journal, further expanding its reach.
In 2024, after 78 years in print, National Fisherman transitioned fully to digital. Our complete magazine archive is currently undergoing a digitization project to preserve and provide access to decades of commercial fishing history. Additionally, we produce the official media guide for the Pacific Marine Expo, the industry’s premier annual event in Seattle.
