ANCHORAGE, AK —
Oceana, represented by Earthjustice, filed a lawsuit in federal court arguing that the National Marine Fisheries (NMFS) failed to meet obligations under the Magnuson Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to protect corals, sponges and other seafloor habitats from bottom trawling.
