Since its opening in 1914, Fishermen’s Terminal has served as the backbone of the Pacific Northwest fishing industry and a vital hub for the region’s maritime economy. To ensure the space remains a thriving center for Seattle’s working waterfront, the Port of Seattle is currently in the middle of a $100 million investment to modernize and enhance this essential facility.
Improvements include preserving dock infrastructure for commercial fishers and modernizing facilities for tenants and visitors, while celebrating the terminal’s rich history and legacy. The upgrades will anchor a diverse and sustainable maritime economy for generations to come.

Maritime Innovation Center (MInC)
In 2024, the Maritime Innovation Center (MInC) hit key milestones in its transformation. Construction crews moved the historic Ship Supply Building off its foundation, poured a new foundation, and drove 90 feet piles into bedrock to ensure seismic stability. In early January 2025, the building was moved back into its original location and placed on the new foundation. Once completed, the 15,000-square-foot facility will provide work, fabrication, and event spaces for business incubators, accelerators, and anchor tenants. Designed to meet Living Building Challenge standards, the MInC will support innovation and sustainability in Seattle’s maritime industry.
Nordby Conference Center Expansion
During the second half of 2024, the Nordby Conference Center underwent construction to double its capacity to accommodate events, meetings, and classes for up to 50 people. Upgrades include the ability to divide the space for smaller, concurrent events and the addition of a sink and beverage station.
Renovations are now complete, and the room is available for public use. While Port staff work on an online reservation system, reservations can be made at the Operations Office at Fishermen’s Terminal. Stay tuned for a spring open house to explore the upgrades and learn how to use the reservation system.
Parking Lot and Sidewalk Improvements

In late 2024, crews began work on accessibility improvements for all who visit and work at Fishermen’s Terminal. Upgrades include new signage, sidewalk and ramp modifications, and increased safety measures around the Fishermen’s Center Building walkways and surrounding parking areas. Construction is set to continue through March 2025.
