Elliott Bay Design Group (EBDG) is a full-service, employee-owned naval architecture and marine engineering firm that supports owners, operators and shipyards. Our team of naval architects, engineers, designers and analysts have expertise with designing, supporting and proving the feasibility of marine transportation.

We have a long history of supporting owners and operators of fishing vessels, dating back to the 1950s. We proudly serve this vital sector with an array of engineering services including vessel design, modifications, repowers, stability tests and inclines, processing plant conversions, fishing deck upgrades as well as Alternative Compliance and Safety Agreement (ACSA) regulatory support and compliance. We provide technical support and on-site inspection services for owners, shipyards, vendors, and financial institutions.

Our team’s body of work encompasses a varied portfolio of designs from seiners, longliners, and factory trawlers, to fish processors, crabbers, and research vessels.

Triple Jet Gillnetter

EBDG and Cummins collaborated to design this 32′ x 20′ ultra-shallow, triple jet gillnetter specifically for Bristol Bay. The vessel can make 20 knots with a full load of 20,000 pounds of salmon.

145' Crabber Tender

EBDG designed this modern, dual-purpose crabbing vessel that offers the ability to tender in the off-season. The hull form was designed for efficiency, attaining 10 knots with a Tier III machinery plant. The 145′ vessels has an approximate capacity for 300 pots while maintaining sight lines.

319' Factory Trawler

EBDG designed this factory trawler for ground fish species in the Gulf of Alaska with processing capabilities including packaged filets and surimi. The design was developed to maximize ease of construction in US Shipyards. The 319′ factory trawler has freezer hold capacity for 664 pallets and packing storage for 84 pallets.
