We are thrilled to announce the return of our famous Fisherman of the Year contest, now rebranded as the Coastal Challenge, and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever before. Sponsored by the Port of Seattle Booth #2600, this event promises to be an unforgettable experience for you and your crew, with the chance to win a substantial cash prize!
The Coastal Challenge is designed to test the courage of your fishing skills and push your knowledge to the limit through a series of exhilarating trials. Three Skill Sets, One Winner (Each Day): To win the Coastal Challenge, you’ll need to prove your mastery in one of three skill sets, each offering a unique test of your abilities. The winners of each skill set will advance to the final round, and they will each earn a handsome cash prize.
1. Knot Tying: Think you’ve got what it takes to tie the most secure and efficient knots? Show off your knot-tying skills and compete against fellow anglers to secure your spot in the finals.
2. Net Mending: Repairing fishing nets is a crucial skill for any fisherman. Test your net-mending prowess and demonstrate your ability to keep your gear in top shape during this thrilling challenge.
3. Rope Splicing: Precision and speed are key in rope splicing. Put your skills to the test as you splice ropes under pressure and prove that you have what it takes to make it to the final round.
Survival Suit Sprint: All finalists will don survival suits, and it’s a race to see who can put one on the fastest. The quickest competitor to suit up will be declared the winner of this thrilling sprint challenge.

A $100 cash prize will be awarded to the winner of each skillset, where you will advance and compete for a $450 dollar cash and a SWAG bucket filled with fantastic gear. In addition to, the ultimate honor of being crowned Coastal Challenge Champion, where a new champion will be crowed each day of the expo.
